A/N: For some reason, I could not get Travelling Light to mean anything other in my mind than a spotlight. and there's technically not even a spotlight in this. i should be shot xoxo. also i wrote this. in a very short amount of time and the challenge was about to run out <3
Keeley’s dated her fair share of footballers, for better or worse. She would like to say that Roy is special, different from the other’s somehow. But a footballer’s a footballer. Though, she likes him a hell of a lot more than she’s liked some of the other ones, brat sails and all. Hell, she might even-
But never mind that.
She was telling the truth when she said she didn’t really care all that much about football, and that tonight feels different. Honestly, she thinks it may have been cool to see Roy in his prime. Back when he really was here, there, every-fucking-where.
Right now though, she feels it. That spark, watching him. He’s blisteringly fast down the pitch, faster than she’s ever seen him. Jamie’s got the ball and Roy is hunting him down like prey. It makes her dizzy.
She can’t look away. If she didn’t know any better she would have expected the floodlights around the pitch to be bending their rays just to shine down on him. Roy Kent to center stage. Beaming down, trying to keep up until he-
Richmond erupts! But it doesn’t last. “He’s not getting up.”
The city sings for him.
